About AMC Prep
Our Mission
The AMC Part 1 is a demanding examination, and the pathway to medical registration in Australia is long, expensive, and often poorly explained. Too many International Medical Graduates begin their preparation with scattered resources, conflicting advice, and no clear picture of what the exam actually tests or how the pathway works. Some study for months and still fail — not because they lack knowledge, but because they studied the wrong things in the wrong way.
AMC Prep exists to fix that. Every guide on this site is built around the official AMC content blueprint, verified against primary sources, and written to give you a clear, structured path from eligibility through to passing AMC Part 1. We do not make promises about guaranteed results. We provide the information, frameworks, and tools that well-prepared candidates consistently use to succeed.
Who We Are For
We build resources specifically for IMGs who are:
- Preparing for AMC Part 1 for the first time and need a clear starting point
- Returning after an unsuccessful attempt and need to understand what to change
- Looking for a structured study framework to replace months of uncoordinated reading
- Unsure how the AMC pathway works, what the exam covers, or how to prioritise across six patient groups and 130+ clinical presentations
Whether you are studying full-time, preparing alongside clinical work, or navigating the process from overseas, the guides on this site are written with your situation in mind.
What We Provide
- Structured content aligned to the AMC blueprint — detailed breakdowns of the exam format, syllabus, scoring, and preparation strategy, all cross-referenced against the official AMC MCQ Examination Specifications
- Week-by-week study plans — the 6-Month Study Plan and 3-Month Study Plan map every patient group to specific weeks, with integrated practice question targets and a progression from content learning through to full-length exam simulation
- Honest, evidence-based guidance — no exaggerated claims, no "guaranteed pass" language, no shortcuts. The Common Mistakes page documents what actually causes candidates to fail, and every recommendation on this site is grounded in how the exam works, not in marketing
- Pathway clarity — the Pathway to Medical Registration explains the full journey from eligibility through AMC Part 1, Part 2 (or WBA), and medical registration, including what happens after you pass Part 1 and how limited registration works
Where to Start
For a high-level view of the journey from IMG to registered doctor in Australia, read the Pathway to Medical Registration in Australia. If you are new here, the best place to begin is the AMC Part 1 Exam Guide. It covers what the exam is, how it is structured, and what you need to know before you start preparing. Check Eligibility to confirm you can sit the exam.
From there, review the AMC Part 1 Syllabus to understand the six patient groups and their weightings, then follow the 6-Month Study Plan or the 3-Month Study Plan to organise your preparation week by week.
